Bryan Hulbert – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 17, 2018) With a top finish of fourth this past week at Humboldt Speedway, New Mexico’s Johnny Herrera kept his three-race swing consistent with all three nights landing inside the top-ten with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com.

“We were okay. Had a few issues, but overall it was a good run,” commented Herrera of the three-race swing.

Starting this off with a Heat Race win at Humboldt Speedway on Wednesday, May 9, Johnny drew the third starting spot for the A-Feature. Holding the show position, the first part of the race, Herrera ultimately ended up forth after Tony Stewart worked the inside line of turns three and four on Lap 5.

“It was hard to pass, and the driver just made a mistake. At the start it was around the top, but we had red early and once we got rolling again, Tony [Stewart] was making a run through the center of one and two, and I tried to shut him down into three and but just got in too hard. After that, the bottom started cleaning off and taking rubber, so I just rode.”

A 10th place finish at Lakeside Speedway the following night, Johnny had to come from 16th after fighting back from a high pill-draw that put him seventh to fifth in the fourth Heat Race.

“I was really good at the start of the race on the top. I had passed Blake and was about to pass Terry, and all the sudden it just got loose to the point that I thought I was going to spin. It was everything I could do to maintain. I thought I had a left rear shock die, but once we got back to the pits, we figured out we had a tire issue where our Left Rear shrunk, and we ended up with almost 12 inches of stagger.”

Rushing through the field from seventh to 3rd in Heat Race action at I-30 Speedway, the final result on the night was a 10th place finish.

“We were great in the Heat, but just made to many changes for the feature and got way to tight. We started eighth and ran 10th. Not much else to say about that, we just went too far and should have left it a little freer.”

Off this weekend to attend a graduation in New Mexico, Johnny will be in the “Land of Enchantment” again for Memorial Day Weekend with the ASCS Southwest Region at the Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, N.M. on Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27.

“I’m looking forward to going to Las Cruces and racing with Royal. He’s supported me a lot and any chance I get to go down and support him, it’s a good time.”

The 2018 season marks the 34th year of racing for Johnny Herrera which includes over 140 victories in various forms of Sprint Car competition. For more information, and to keep in touch with the man called “Hollywood”, log onto to http://www.johnnyherreraracing.com.
