Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 15, 2016) – Johnny Herrera is happy to return to 360ci sprint car competition this weekend after a frustrating outing during the 56th annual 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals.

Herrera will compete this Saturday at St. Francois County Raceway in Farmington, Mo., and Sunday at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo., for the High Roller Classic with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“That’s where we make our bread and butter,” he said. “We’ve got to try to get that championship so we’ll get back to that and try to make that better.”

Herrera is fresh off the sport’s biggest event, which was hosted by Knoxville Raceway last weekend. He kicked off the Knoxville Nationals preliminary action last Wednesday by qualifying 39th quickest. Herrera then placed second in a heat race to lock into the 19th starting position for the main event.

“Dirty air is really big,” he said. “I started in the front in the heat and it wasn’t so bad because I was in clean air. I started in the back of the feature and the first four or five laps I was like, ‘What happened to this race car?’”

Herrera ended 23rd in the feature. He returned to the half-mile oval on Friday for another opportunity. Herrera timed in 29th quickest in his group before advancing from 10th to eighth place in a heat race and from 20th to 11th in a B Main.

“I thought I had a really good race car as far as the best balance I’ve felt here (in the B Main),” he said. “On Saturday my balance went away and I was no good with my race car.”

Herrera wrapped up the event by finishing 10th in the D Main on Saturday.

“I was tight, balled up,” he said. “I was just too tight. The dirty air is twice as bad in the 410 and really bad here. It was a big learning week for me as far as getting the car to roll around here good. I’ve won a lot of races here, but you wouldn’t know it by the way we ran. It’s just a different place to race.”
