Bryan Hulbert – MESQUITE, Texas (October 13, 2020) Rolling into the final weekend of the 2020 season for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, Johnny Herrera will slip back behind the wheel of his Mesilla Valley Transportation No. 45x at the Devil’s Bowl Winter Nationals.
Organized by Johnny’s wife, the car will be a throwback theme to his 2011 season with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.
“I’m looking forward to this weekend. I might be a little rusty the first few laps, but this isn’t something you forget how to do,” stated the wily veteran. “Thank you to my wife for getting the car done, and helping get everything put together for us to race this weekend. It's special also because my family is coming down to spend time together and see me race.”
With the help of Harold Main Motorsports in California, Johnny will be utilizing Ostrich Racing Engines between the rails of his Maxim Chassis.
“I actually just went to Iowa to pick these up. Harold’s been with me for a long time, and I really appreciate him letting borrow these engines.”
In Johnny’s last visit to the Devil’s Bowl in 2018 during the Spring Nationals, the result was a seventh-place finish. Herrera’s last time behind the wheel was at Vado Speedway Park over Thanksgiving Weekend in 2019 which resulted in a weekend sweep of 305cid competition.
The 47th Devil’s Bowl Winter Nationals takes place Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 17 at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. Both nights go green at 8:00 P.M. (CT). Live coverage can be found at http://www.racinboys.com.
