Herrera Tackling Role As Crew Chief While Building 2019 Schedule Of Events

Bryan Hulbert – ALBUQUERQUE, NM (March 11, 2019) While Johnny Herrera’s main focus for the 2019 season will be the upkeep and success of Harli White’s No. 17w, the wily veteran is far from retirement as the driver of the MVT No. 45x will make a few select appearances throughout the season.

“Since we announced I was going to be the Crew Chief for Harli this season, there has been a lot of talk that I was done racing, and that’s not true,” stated Johnny with a giggle.

“This is a great opportunity to teach a driver who I believe is very capable of winning on the national level and on the role behind the scenes is actually something I’ve given a lot of thought too for several years, but I’ll still hit a couple shows this year when it doesn’t conflict with Harli’s schedule.”

With the Life of Hope Ministries/Dustin’s Dream No. 17w sitting in Johnny’s Broken Arrow shop, the 30 plus year veteran of the sport has spent the off-season combing over the cars, engine program, and travel setup to make sure everything is in place to best serve Harli’s ambitions.

Asked what his 2019 plans might look like, Johnny replied, “Right now, we’re looking at about 15-20 shows between ASCS Regional, NCRA, and maybe a couple of National events but again, it all depends on what is going on with Harli.”

Tentatively, Johnny’s first weekend at the track this year will be with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products at Creek County Speedway on Friday, April 12 and Caney Valley Speedway on Saturday, April 13.

The 2019 season marks the 35th year of racing for Johnny Herrera which includes over 140 victories in various forms of Sprint Car competition. For more information, and to keep in touch with the man called “Hollywood”, log onto to http://www.johnnyherreraracing.com.
